Pump Overview

The CODMANŽ 3000 Infusion Pump is a cost-effective therapy for those patients that fail conventional medical treatment. This elegantly simple device features an inexhaustible power supply, and does not require frequent replacements associated with battery powered pumps. The slow, continuous drug delivery of the constant flow pump into the intraspinal space eliminates the peaks and valleys often experienced with traditional drug therapy.

The Codman 3000 implantable pump is divided into inner and outer chambers by accordion-like bellows. The inner chamber that contains the drug to be infused. The outer chamber contains propellant permanently sealed inside.

The patient's own body temperature warms the propellant, which exerts a constant pressure on the bellows. This causes the drug to flow out of the inner chamber through a filter and flow restrictor then slowly out of the catheter.
